I absolutely love infrared photography! Why? I really think it is because I have absolute creative freedom. Again, why? Because no one has any true idea of what an infrared image should look like. It is all in the creator's mind, in my vision. This technique allows me to create the stunning dreamlike effects that define Dream World Images, offering a look into another world. Infrared photography has always fascinated me because it captures light beyond what the human eye can see. This technique allows me to create the stunning dreamlike effects that define Dream World Images. By revealing this invisible world, I transform ordinary landscapes into extraordinary visions.
Different infrared wavelengths create unique color effects, and here's how I use them in my work:
The journey from capture to final image involves several steps that I meticulously follow:
1 - I start with the initial capture using specialized infrared filters.
2 - Then, I process the raw images to handle the unique properties of infrared light. Channel swapping in post-processing helps me achieve those signature dreamlike colors.
3 - Finally, I fine-tune contrast and tones to enhance the surreal effect.
These technical aspects come together in my artwork to create distinct styles:
The "Spiritual Splendor" series benefits from longer wavelengths to create ethereal effects.
"Echoes of the Desert" uses infrared's unique properties to reveal hidden details in arid landscapes.
"Serenade of Light" demonstrates how different wavelengths can transform familiar scenes into magical vistas.
I realize some people don't like infrared; my sister, for one, says she doesn't like it because it isn't what she sees with her eyes. And I understand that, but what is Art? Look at Picasso (NOT that I'm comparing my stuff to him at all). I'm just saying how many people hated his work back when he created it, how many loved it, and what did it do to art creation? How did it change things?
Understanding the science behind infrared photography helps me appreciate the unique artistry in my collections. Each wavelength choice is deliberate, creating specific effects that contribute to my vision of transforming ordinary landscapes into extraordinary dreamscapes.
