There's something magical about stumbling upon unexpected treasures during our RV adventures. That's exactly what happened when we discovered The Sculpture Fields at Montague Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Imagine 33 acres of artistic wonderland, where massive sculptures rise from the earth like gentle giants, each with its own story to tell.
Our exploration became even more entertaining when we joined our friends Keith and Raini (whose adventures you can follow on their YouTube channel) for an afternoon of artistic discovery. What started as a simple walk through the park turned into an impromptu game of "Name That Sculpture" – mainly because we were all too caught up in conversation and wonder to notice the actual name plaques nestled in the ground!
Through my infrared lens, these already impressive sculptures took on an otherworldly quality. The way infrared photography transforms ordinary scenes into dreamlike vistas seemed perfectly suited for these massive art pieces. The metal and steel structures created striking contrasts against the ethereal glow of infrared-captured foliage, making each piece seem like it had just landed from some artistic dimension.
Our made-up names for the sculptures ranged from whimsical to philosophical, each of us seeing something different in the abstract forms. It wasn't until later that we discovered the real names, but somehow, our imaginative titles added an extra layer of personal connection to each piece. There's something freeing about approaching art without preconceptions, letting your imagination run wild with possibilities.
This is what we love most about our traveling lifestyle – the unexpected discoveries that turn into memorable moments. Whether it's a hidden sculpture park in Tennessee or any other surprise destination, each stop adds another chapter to our ongoing adventure story.
