“Timeless Path to the Mission Sanctuary” is an invitation into a place where the earthly and the sacred feel close enough to touch. Captured in infrared black and white, this image centers on the San Francisco de Asís Catholic Mission Church in Taos, New Mexico—a landmark whose presence feels both humble and monumental.

In the foreground, an aged adobe archway rises like a sentinel, crowned by a cross that anchors the scene in quiet faith. Beyond it, the mission appears framed and protected, while additional crosses punctuate the sky—simple symbols carrying centuries of meaning. The infrared treatment deepens the atmosphere, turning light into a kind of hush and shadow into a form of reverence.

A rough, winding path leads the eye toward the church, inviting a slow, contemplative approach—less a walk than a pilgrimage. Weathered adobe textures, stark sky, and a touch of surrounding foliage create a balance between human history and the living world, between structure and spirit.

This photograph is also deeply personal for me. One of my favorite photographers, Ansel Adams, famously photographed this very church, and standing here with my own camera felt like stepping into an artistic lineage—honoring his legacy while offering my own vision of this timeless sanctuary.

Printed to museum-quality standards and available in multiple sizes and premium materials (paper, canvas, metal, acrylic, and more depending on availability). If you’d like a different size, finish, or framing option, reach out and I’ll help you customize the perfect piece for your space. Contact Dan
