Every image begins in a real place. Every finished piece reveals what most people never notice.
A Quiet Correspondence brings a solitary tree and a passing cloud into a silent exchange — a world where distance does not feel like absence. Separated by a vast expanse of darkness, the two forms remain quietly bound, their relationship made visible through the space between them.
The darkness becomes a place for the eye to linger, allowing the tree and cloud to hold each other’s presence without touching. There is a familiar tenderness in this separation, suggesting those rare moments when connection needs neither closeness nor words.
This print is for collectors drawn to quiet, contemplative landscapes — artwork that offers room for reflection and evokes the feeling of being connected, even across a distance.
Complimentary standard U.S. & Canada shipping is included. Each artwork is made to order and carefully prepared for its journey to you.
Available on Fine Art Matte Paper, whose reflection-free surface lends subtle tonal refinement to the solitary forms and surrounding darkness. For a more tactile presentation, Stretched Canvas adds organic texture and painterly depth to the spare composition. Each presentation preserves the photograph’s quiet intimacy — a tree, a cloud, and the unspoken correspondence between them.

Some creatures wear their years on the outside — every crease a season survived, every crack a story the world will never hear in words. This close study of a rhino's hide turns skin into landscape: ridges like dry riverbeds, folds like canyon walls, cracked plates of armor that have hardened slowly, the way stone hardens, under pressures no eye can see.
Look long enough and the hide stops reading as skin at all. It becomes topography — a place you could walk, if you were small enough, tracing the same paths water once traced, following cracks that formed the way drought forms them, one dry season at a time. And at the center of it all, one dark eye. Not fierce, not wary — patient. The kind of patience that comes only from having already survived everything a day could throw at you, many thousands of times over.
There is no drama here, no snarl, no charge. Only the slow architecture of time, pressed into hide instead of stone, and the quiet suggestion that this creature has watched generations of humans arrive and depart from this land without ever needing to understand them — because it was never really about us to begin with.
This print is for collectors drawn to texture, patience, and quiet reverence — artwork that turns endurance into elegance, and time itself into something you can hang on a wall.
Complimentary standard U.S. & Canada shipping is included. Each artwork is made to order and carefully prepared for its journey to you.
Available on Fine Art Matte Paper, whose reflection-free surface preserves every crease and crack in the rhino's hide with quiet tonal detail, letting shadow and texture hold their full weight. For a more elemental presence, Brushed Metal allows its natural metallic texture to emerge through the pale ridges and brightest ripples of skin, lending the image a restrained, weathered shimmer — as if the metal itself had aged alongside the creature. Each presentation strengthens the rhino's ancient presence, a silent testament to time worn directly into hide.

Alone upon the horizon, a giraffe pauses and returns our gaze. Rendered in black and white, the scene strips away color to reveal pure form — a solitary silhouette rising from tall grass, the sky bleached almost white behind it, the fence line at the edge of frame a quiet reminder of where the wild ends and we begin. Everything about the composition speaks to distance: the giraffe stands apart, unhurried, its long neck a line drawn against emptiness.
And yet, in that distance, something closes. The giraffe has turned its head toward the camera, toward us, and for one held breath the usual boundary between observer and observed dissolves. When the Wild Looks Back captures that fleeting exchange between two worlds — a quiet moment of recognition across the space that usually keeps us apart, where looking becomes being seen in return.
This print is for collectors drawn to minimalist, high-contrast landscapes — artwork that holds stillness and quiet reciprocity in the same frame, and brings into a room the rare feeling of being noticed by something wild.
This print is for collectors drawn to bold graphic contrast and quiet philosophical depth — artwork that turns pattern into meaning, and stillness into a kind of belonging.
Complimentary standard U.S. & Canada shipping is included. Each artwork is made to order and carefully prepared for its journey to you.
Available on Fine Art Matte Paper, whose reflection-free surface preserves the bleached sky, the fine texture of windswept grass, and deep monochrome shadows with quiet tonal detail. For a more elemental presence, Brushed Metal allows its natural metallic texture to emerge through the pale sky and brightest highlights along the giraffe's coat, lending the scene a restrained, shifting shimmer. Each presentation strengthens the giraffe's solitary presence — a quiet figure holding watch over the open horizon.

Surrounded by shifting lines and mirrored forms, one quiet presence emerges from the pattern. Rendered in black and white, the scene becomes pure rhythm — two Grevy's zebras stand close, their stripes overlapping and repeating until the eye can barely tell where one animal ends and the other begins. Bands of black and white ripple across the frame like a current, dense and hypnotic, broken only by the soft weight of a single face turned toward the camera.
That face is the anchor. Amid all the visual noise — the stripes multiplying, mirroring, dissolving into abstraction — one zebra holds still and looks out, unmistakably itself. It doesn't fight the pattern surrounding it, nor does it disappear into it. It simply exists within it, individuality intact even while woven into something larger than itself.
Within the Pattern explores that delicate place where identity and belonging meet — where we remain ourselves even as we become part of a whole. The stripes blur the line between the animal and the world around it, the self and the collective, until what's left is a quiet meditation on how presence persists, even inside chaos.

Available on Fine Art Matte Paper, whose reflection-free surface preserves the crisp black bands, the soft overlap of stripes, and the deep monochrome shadows with quiet tonal detail. For a more elemental presence, Brushed Metal allows its natural metallic texture to emerge through the brightest bands and pale highlights, lending the pattern a restrained, shifting shimmer — as if the stripes themselves were catching light. Each presentation strengthens the image's graphic rhythm, a quiet study in identity holding its shape within the whole.

Tracey and I were driving with no destination in Grand Teton National Park when the light did something worth stopping for. As the sun dropped, it caught one ridge of evergreens dead-on, lighting them up while the sage-covered slopes below fell into shadow. Every pine needle along that line seemed to hold the light, a single bright edge against a mountain going dark. It's a simple contrast — one lit ridge, everything else in shadow — but it's the kind of moment you only get if you happen to be looking at the right second.
Complimentary standard U.S. & Canada shipping is included. Each artwork is made to order and carefully prepared for its journey to you.
Printed to museum-quality standards, Lights Edge is offered on Fine Art Matte Paper, chosen for its reflection-free surface and nuanced rendering of the illuminated evergreens, shadowed sage, and deep mountain twilight. It is also available on Brushed Metal, which allows a subtle metallic texture to emerge through the sunlit branches, giving the narrow passage of light an elemental shimmer against the darkened landscape. Each finish was selected to honor the image’s dramatic boundary between radiance and shadow—a fleeting moment when the trees become luminous sentinels along the edge of night. If you would like a different size, finish, or framing option, contact Dan.
Sometimes all it takes is one small detail to make me stop.
This photograph was made during the same walk through Tims Ford State Park in Tennessee that led to Wishing Leaves. As Tracey and I followed the trails, I noticed a single leaf resting on an old railroad-tie step.
Nothing about the scene was dramatic. There was no grand landscape or spectacular sunset—only an ordinary moment most people might have stepped over without noticing.
What drew me in was the contrast between the delicate leaf and the weathered wood beneath it. One suggested a brief season; the other carried the marks of endurance. Together, they formed a quiet composition that seemed to have arranged itself just long enough to be discovered.
Moments like this remind me that nature’s most beautiful gifts are not always found by searching farther. Sometimes they are already waiting at our feet, asking only that we slow down enough to see them.

Available on Fine Art Matte Paper, whose reflection-free surface preserves the pale leaf, weathered wood grain, and deep spaces between the steps with subtle tonal detail. For a more contemporary presence, Smooth White Metal brings crisp definition and dimensional depth to the layered textures while maintaining the quiet restraint of the black-and-white composition. Each presentation honors the beauty of noticing—a small, temporary presence resting for a moment upon something shaped by time.

A sailboat rests on open water off St. Thomas, held steady beneath a sky full of layered clouds that look dramatic but feel oddly soothing. Palm fronds drift into the frame like a soft curtain, reminding you this is the tropics even in monochrome—warm air, salt light, and time moving slower than usual. The distant islands sit low and calm, and the boat becomes a small, peaceful punctuation mark in all that space. It’s the kind of scene that doesn’t demand attention; it simply offers it back to you—quiet, steady, and easy to breathe with.
Open Edition
Printed to museum-quality standards, Anchored in Quiet is offered on Fine Art Matte Paper, chosen for its soft, reflection-free surface and nuanced rendering of the monochrome sky, distant islands, and still water. It is also available on Stretched Canvas, which lends the tranquil Caribbean scene a gentle, painterly presence and arrives ready to hang. Each finish allows the sailboat’s quiet solitude and surrounding sense of space to remain beautifully undisturbed. If you would like a different size, finish, or framing option, contact Dan.
Stripped of color, the St. Thomas shoreline becomes an image of pure calm—silver light scattered across the sea, distant islands softened into gentle silhouettes, and clouds drifting overhead like slow-moving thoughts. A small boat rests far out on the water, offering a sense of scale without disturbing the stillness.
In black and white, the Caribbean becomes timeless and meditative. The image is less about escape than about spaciousness—a wide, open horizon that quietly reassures. It suggests that relaxation is not always something to pursue; sometimes it begins by looking outward long enough for the mind to grow still.

On St. Thomas, the sea opens into a wide, unhurried horizon. Turquoise water moves through layers of blue, while distant islands rest along the horizon beneath a sky softened by drifting clouds.
Sunlight scatters across the surface in quiet flashes, giving the water a gentle sense of movement without disturbing the stillness of the scene. There is nothing to solve here and nothing to chase—only open water, warm air, and the feeling of the world widening around you.
This St. Thomas seascape is the kind of view that resets your attention. It offers a moment of space and calm, carrying the feeling of an island afternoon long after you’ve left it behind.
This fine art print is for collectors drawn to coastal landscapes, turquoise water, and images that bring a sense of openness and quiet into a space.

Two leaves float in a wide field of black water like small thoughts released into silence. Their edges catch the light just enough to feel present, while everything around them dissolves into mystery—no shoreline, no context, only the slow, weightless drift. The space between them becomes part of the story: a quiet distance that feels both peaceful and profound, like the pause between breaths. In this minimal, nocturnal scene, the ordinary becomes almost cosmic—two fragile shapes suspended in darkness, reminding us that even as things fall away, they can still move with grace.

Printed to museum-quality standards, Drift in the Dark is offered on Fine Art Matte Paper, chosen for its reflection-free surface and nuanced rendering of the luminous leaves against the deep black water. It is also available on Stretched Canvas, which gives the surrounding darkness a quiet, tactile depth while allowing the two fragile forms to appear suspended within it. Each finish was selected to honor the image’s profound simplicity—a meditation on distance, surrender, and the grace of drifting through the unknown. There are places where the veil grows thin, and the Grand Teton is one of them — a dark altar rising beneath a sky set ablaze. Rendered through infrared's ethereal vision, the peak becomes pure silhouette, a jagged threshold holding back a blaze of gold and violet light that seems to pour from somewhere beyond the horizon rather than merely behind it.
Through the center of it all, a jet's contrail rises like a single luminous line drawn through the dusk — a thin thread connecting what we can see to what we cannot, earth to sky, the known to the unknown. It's easy to imagine it as more than vapor and light: a path someone might have followed, or a signal from the mountain that it has always known its true purpose.
This is not simply a sunset. It is the moment the mountain remembers it has always been a doorway.

Printed to museum-quality standards, Divine Summit — Grand Teton Sunset is offered on Fine Art Matte Paper, chosen for its soft, reflection-free surface and nuanced rendering of the mountain silhouette, glowing sky, and cascading rays of light. It is also available on Glossy HD Metal, which intensifies the golden illumination and gives the dramatic meeting of mountain and sky exceptional clarity, depth, and radiance. Each finish was selected to honor this fleeting threshold — where earthly stone, celestial light, and the unseen seem to meet.

The giraffe turns toward the camera with an unhurried gaze, its black-and-white markings unfolding along the long neck like a living map. Against the softened background, the moment feels suspended: the gentle angle of the head, the quiet expression, and the stillness between observer and observed.
What begins as a portrait becomes something more intimate—a moment of mutual recognition, when the act of looking is quietly returned. Calm, tender, and deeply present, the image invites us to linger with an ancient, gentle animal who seems, for a moment, to be looking back.

A giraffe lowers its head in a simple, intimate motion—drinking, pausing, and existing without performance. The graceful curve of its neck becomes a sweeping line across the frame, while the patterned coat takes on the presence of sacred design, as though nature signed its work with deliberate geometry.
Rendered in black and white, the moment feels timeless. This is a quiet ritual repeated across generations, captured in the space between movement and stillness. The absence of color draws attention to the giraffe’s form, rhythm, and remarkable patterns, allowing its physical presence to become almost sculptural.
There is a calm concentration in the scene—a reminder that grace is not always found in dramatic gestures. Sometimes it appears in the pause before a sip, the curve of a neck, or the stillness of an animal entirely at ease within its surroundings.
For collectors drawn to wildlife imagery with a contemplative and symbolic character, this photograph offers a portrait of quiet attention. It reveals how an ordinary act can become something enduring when the world is observed closely.

Embers of the Ancient reveals a cypress swamp glowing as if lit from within. Warm, ember-toned light moves through hanging Spanish moss and shadowed trunks, transforming the wetlands into a quiet world of fire and reflection.
Mist softens the distant trees while still water gathers their dark shapes below, creating a subtle mirror beneath the glow. Nothing in the scene burns, yet everything seems to hold a quiet heat—a lingering warmth suspended between earth, water, and sky.
This print is for collectors drawn to atmospheric Southern wetlands, mysterious light, and dreamlike landscapes that bring warmth, depth, and stillness into a space.

“Sun-Kissed Harmony Along Rustic Lines” captures a moment where the countryside feels like a hymn. A small rural church sits beyond barbed wire and weathered fence posts, its silhouette softened by golden light as the sun hangs low in a hazy sky. The foreground grasses glow with warmth, and the fence line cuts across the scene like a simple, honest boundary—rustic lines holding the frame together.
There’s a quiet tension here that becomes harmony: the roughness of wire and wood against the tenderness of light, the everyday grit of the land against the still presence of the chapel. It’s a photograph about faith in the ordinary—about how beauty often arrives through the simplest structures when the light is right.

Water moves slowly through a shadowed woodland, slipping over moss-covered rocks and gathering into a series of small, cascading falls. Above it all, a fallen tree crosses the scene like a great wooden beam—placed there not by human hands, but by time, weather, and the quiet forces of the forest.
In Nature’s Architecture, the long exposure transforms the moving water into soft ribbons of light. Against the dark stone and tangled woodland, every element becomes part of a larger structure: weathered wood, layered rock, moss, shadow, and motion. The stream seems less like a passage through the forest and more like a natural interior—a place shaped slowly by gravity and persistence.
Working in black and white brings the underlying forms forward. The brightness of the water draws the eye through the image, while the fallen trunk creates a strong diagonal that holds the composition together. What might first appear chaotic begins to feel ordered, as though the forest has been quietly building this arrangement for years.
This photograph is a meditation on beauty without intention. Nothing here was designed, yet everything belongs. The water continues its patient work, the tree remains where it fell, and the landscape forms its own kind of cathedral—dark, enduring, and alive with movement.
Nature’s Architecture is available as a limited edition fine-art print for collectors drawn to intimate woodland scenes, long-exposure water, and the quiet geometry found in the natural world.Limited Edition — 25

Photographing the San Francisco de Asís Mission Church near Taos, New Mexico, was one of the memorable moments of our journey through the Southwest. The church has a quiet strength that is easy to feel before you begin to study its form—smooth adobe walls, softened edges, and a presence shaped by faith, weather, and time.
In Monumental Shadows in Time, I approached the church from a different angle, allowing the curved façade to fill the frame. Captured in black and white, the adobe becomes almost sculptural. Strong light moves across the rounded walls while deep shadows settle into every recess and imperfection, revealing the texture of a structure that has endured countless seasons.
What makes this place especially meaningful to me is its connection to Ansel Adams, one of my favorite photographers. Knowing that he had stood before this same church and made his own photograph there gave my visit the feeling of a quiet artistic pilgrimage. I wasn’t trying to recreate his image. I was responding to the same enduring subject through my own way of seeing.
The changing light gives the façade a sense of movement, as though the church is revealing a different memory with every passing moment. For me, this photograph is about endurance—not as something hard or imposing, but as the quiet strength of continuing to stand, weathered yet whole.
This print is for collectors drawn to historic architecture, sacred places, and black and white photography shaped by light, texture, and reflection. It offers a contemplative presence rooted in the enduring adobe architecture of northern New Mexico.

“Surreal Stillness in Sacred Shadows” captures the Chapel of the Holy Cross in Sedona, Arizona as something both architectural and elemental—human design set into ancient stone. Rising from the red rock cliffs, the chapel feels like a threshold: part sanctuary, part monument, held in place by silence.
In black and white, the contrast sharpens into pure form—hard lines against rugged layers, bright structure against a dark sky. The landscape becomes a kind of altar, and the chapel becomes a quiet declaration of presence. It’s a scene that feels reverent without needing words—sacred simply because it exists.

White Flame on Granite portrays a single aspen rising behind Sylvan Lake in Custer State Park, South Dakota. Its luminous trunk cuts a clean vertical line against a rugged granite wall, while delicate branches reach upward as though listening for light.
Fresh spring leaves gather around the tree in soft, living color—a gentle response to the ancient stone behind it. The composition is simple and restrained, yet the contrast between fragile growth and enduring rock gives the image a deeper resonance: resilience, persistence, and the quiet beauty of something alive holding its place within a world shaped by time.
This print is intended for collectors drawn to minimalist nature portraits and the expressive poetry of contrast, where softness meets strength and a single tree becomes a quiet emblem of endurance.

When Art Finds Its Home
One of my favorite moments doesn't happen when I press the shutter.
It happens months later, when someone pauses in front of a photograph and quietly says, "That's the one."
At a recent art show, this mountain landscape found exactly the right home. Watching Don and Sherry connect with it reminded me that collecting art isn't about decorating a wall. It's about recognizing a feeling you want to bring home.

Keeper of the Old Silence holds the stillness of an ancient presence — a white rhino standing in low, amber light, patient and watchful. Photographed at The Wilds in South Central Ohio, this quiet giant carries its strength without display, its horn catching the sun like something carved rather than grown.
Painterly texture blurs the boundary between photograph and relic, lending the portrait the atmosphere of an old master’s canvas. There is an unhurried gravity in its gaze, an invitation to pause before a creature whose presence seems to hold a much older world.
