Tracey, our English pointer Cooper, and I were staying in Custer, South Dakota and took a Saturday to drive into Badlands National Park — I only had a few hours, though I could've stayed for days. Out there, the horizon never holds still; every bend reveals a new layer of stone. "Infinite Ascent" captures one simple moment from that drive: a road climbing toward a wall of rugged rock, seeming to end — until it curves, at the last second, and keeps going. In infrared black and white, the plains glow softly and the road becomes a dark ribbon leading the eye forward. It's a piece about trusting the curve you can't yet see, made on an afternoon that felt too short the moment it started.
Complimentary standard U.S. & Canada shipping is included. Each artwork is made to order and carefully prepared for its journey to you.
Printed to museum-quality standards, Infinite Ascent is offered on Fine Art Matte Paper, chosen for its reflection-free surface and nuanced rendering of the softly glowing plains, rugged stone, and dark road rising through the Badlands. It is also available on Brushed Metal, which allows a subtle metallic texture to emerge through the luminous terrain, adding elemental depth and strength to the sculpted landscape. Each finish was selected to honor the image’s sense of movement and possibility—a road disappearing around an unseen curve, inviting us to trust what waits beyond the horizon. If you would like a different size, finish, or framing option, contact Dan.
