Kindred Hills
This scene waited directly behind the campground where we were staying outside Lander, Wyoming. I hadn’t gone searching for a photograph that morning. It was simply there—a quiet stretch of Wyoming prairie asking to be noticed.
A weathered fence wandered across the rolling hills toward a small grove of trees gathered in the distance. One smaller tree stood apart from the others, creating a feeling I couldn’t ignore: solitude without complete separation, a quiet belonging to something larger.
In the finished photograph, the trees became rich violet shapes while the prairie softened into gentle pink beneath the open Wyoming sky. The familiar landscape took on the feeling of a half-remembered dream.
Kindred Hills is a reminder that a landscape does not need dramatic mountains or waterfalls to leave a lasting impression. Sometimes an old fence, a few trees, and the wide silence of open country are enough.
Complimentary standard shipping within the United States and Canada is included. Each artwork is made to order and carefully prepared for its journey to you.
Printed to museum-quality standards, Kindred Hills is available on Satin Photo Paper, selected for its gentle luminosity and graceful rendering of the violet trees, pink prairie, and expansive Wyoming sky.
It is also available on Smooth White Metal, which brings crisp definition and dimensional depth to the rolling hills and wandering fence while preserving the photograph’s delicate color palette.
Each finish was chosen to honor the quiet relationship at the heart of the image—a small tree standing apart, yet still belonging to the grove, the prairie, and the land surrounding it.
