My wife and I took a boat tour through Caddo Lake, moving slowly beneath the cypress trees and hanging Spanish moss. The swamp seemed to exist in its own time—quiet, watchful, and almost aware of our passing. Somewhere along that ride, I saw this scene and felt the landscape shift from something familiar into something almost otherworldly.

In Luminous Spirits, the cypress canopy glows pale and luminous against the deep shadows of the forest. Spanish moss hangs from the branches like a drifting veil, while the dark water holds the trees in a quiet reflection. Captured in black and white infrared, the ordinary colors of the swamp give way to a stranger vision—one shaped by light, shadow, and the feeling that something unseen may be present just beyond the frame.

What stays with me is the stillness. The trees appear rooted in a world that moves slowly, while the water seems to listen beneath them. I don’t see this place as haunted in a literal sense, but I do feel a presence in it—a depth of age and silence that made the boat ride feel less like sightseeing and more like entering a hidden world.

This photograph is for collectors drawn to mysterious wetlands, cypress forests, and atmospheric infrared work. It brings the quiet, spectral beauty of Caddo Lake into a room and leaves space for the imagination to wander.

Complimentary standard U.S. & Canada shipping is included. Each artwork is made to order and carefully prepared for its journey to you.

Printed to museum-quality standards, Luminous Spirits is offered on Fine Art Matte Paper, chosen for its reflection-free surface and nuanced rendering of the glowing cypress canopy, drifting Spanish moss, and deep forest shadows. It is also available on Brushed Metal, which allows a subtle metallic texture to emerge through the pale infrared foliage, giving the spectral forms an elemental shimmer against the dark water and brooding sky. Each finish was selected to honor the image’s feeling of quiet presence—an ancient wetland suspended somewhere between landscape, memory, and apparition. If you would like a different size, finish, or framing option, contact Dan.
