At Brooms Island, Maryland, the sky can change from calm to threatening in a matter of minutes. In Storms Dance, a weathered dock reaches into the gathering storm—steady, defiant, and small beneath the immense weight of the clouds.

The air felt charged, as though lightning was already present before it appeared. I stepped onto the dock to photograph the approaching storm, but the atmosphere became volatile quickly. When lightning began breaking across the sky, instinct took over. With my camera in one hand and tripod in the other, I turned back toward shore, crouching low and moving as quickly—and safely—as I could.

Then, in a brief moment between retreat and wonder, I pressed the shutter. The resulting frame transformed the dock through infrared into something almost unreal: a quiet structure suspended between storm, water, and light.

Storms Dance is more than a record of changing weather. It holds the tension of that moment—the pull toward beauty, the awareness of danger, and the strange stillness that can exist between them. This print will speak to collectors drawn to dramatic skies, elemental landscapes, and photographs that carry the feeling of having been there when the world briefly changed.

Complimentary standard U.S. & Canada shipping is included. Each artwork is made to order and carefully prepared for its journey to you.

Available on Satin Photo Paper, whose gentle sheen enriches the otherworldly infrared light, weathered dock, and layered storm clouds while preserving graceful detail. For a more dramatic presentation, Glossy HD Metal intensifies the luminous tones, deep contrast, and dimensional force of the approaching tempest, giving the charged sky an almost tangible presence. Each presentation honors the fleeting balance between awe and danger—a moment shaped by wind, light, and nature’s unpredictable choreography.
