Step Above
“Step Above” began as one of those small, unexpected moments that stops you mid-walk. While wandering through Tim’s Ford State Park in Tennessee, I noticed a single leaf resting on a set of weathered railroad tie steps—simple, ordinary, and somehow perfectly placed.
In black and white, the scene becomes a study of texture and contrast: the grain of the wood, the dark gaps between ties, and the pale leaf like a quiet symbol of presence. It’s a photograph about noticing—about how the smallest discoveries can feel like messages when you’re paying attention.
